TOWN BEACH RECONCILIATION MURAL

Town Beach Reconciliation Mural

As part of Reconciliation week celebrations 2022, Port Macquarie Hastings Council put out an expression of interest to all mob who have a special connection to Birpai Country. My design was chosen to be installed on this 70 metre+ wall overlooking the sand and sea of Guruk (Port Macquarie). The mural was installed by my beautiful, artistic friend and ally Brad Collins, with the assistance of many young people who call Birpai Country “Home”.
In the truest spirit of Reconciliation, many hands from many backgrounds and walks of life came together to create this mural, and although Aboriginal in symbolism and nature, this is their mural too. It belongs to all of us. Reconciliation is about coming together, celebrating our differences, lifting each other up, and walking hand in hand toward a more unified and respectful tomorrow. Thank you to every individual whose hands brushed paint on the surface of this wall - you have created something beautiful that embodies the essence of Reconciliation. I hope all people who see it can feel a sense of ownership and pride.
