AstraZeneca Australia & New Zealand Reconciliation Action Plan Artwork

In 2022 AstraZeneca Australia & New Zealand created their first Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan. As part of this process they engaged me to produce a culturally inspired artwork to be used for the Reflect RAP cover page and for AZ to use as collateral in their corporate communications.
This Artwork tells the story of the AstraZeneca organisation and how their work ripples out into community, enhancing the lives of many. It was created with the intention that each employee, distributor, and patient can see themselves reflected in the piece and feel a sense of pride, place and ownership.

I was very appreciative to be involved in such an important and necessary journey and I thank AstraZeneca for recognising the value of working toward Reconciliation for black and white community alike. In very simplistic terms, Reconciliation is first about acknowledgment. Acknowledgement that there was indeed a rich, thriving and sophisticated culture who lived in harmony with this land for 80,000+ years. Acknowledgement that the legacy of genocide and horrific mistreatment of our people had and still has a devastating impact, and for this reason, we have a very complex relationship with colonial Australia today. When we better understand our combined history, we can see the necessity of building positive, respectful relationships between Indigenous Australia and all Australians. RAP’s provide a framework for organisations to be inclusive in their work and contribute to national Reconciliation, every day of the week.
