TELEGRAPH POINT RESERVE MURAL

 Telegraph Point Reserve Mural

As a part of Port Macquarie Hastings Council’s anti-graffiti management project, myself and Birrbay artist Angela Marr of Cultural Industries were selected to create a mural on the pylons beneath the Wilson River bridge at Telegraph Point.
This mural celebrates the abundant brackish/saltwater, freshwater, earth and sky fauna found in the surrounding land. The yellow and orange blend represent the rising and setting of the sun - the promise of a new day, and the welcome of a restful night. The large black and white patterned animals stand boldly and proudly in the foreground, their presence solidifying their importance and ongoing contribution to Country. The patterned background represent the nuances of our landscape and waterways as they bend and flow through Country. Our people have forever shared a symbiotic relationship with Country and all that dwell within. We hope this mural can be a symbol of that connection, and that those who visit this place will become more deeply aware of the nature and beauty that surround them. We hope this mural will be a call to action to do your part to care for Country as our people have done for time immemorial.
